UVS Wins £400k Euro Fighter Simulator Deal with BAE
Audio visual expert UVS has agreed a £400,000 deal with BAE Systems to provide its ultra-high resolution display screens and operating equipment for use in Typhoon flight simulators in the UK and abroad.
The deal will result in UVS technology helping to train air force pilots in some of its key export markets as well as an in-house testing and evaluation system at BAE Systems’ Warton site.
The global provider of defence and security products is taking delivery of 12 QHD quad high definition, ultra-high resolution LCD displays ranging in size from 58-inch to 85inch and nine Netpix 4900plus video wall controllers.
Burnley-based UVS provides video display and audio visual solutions to a range of clients and sectors across the world.
Managing director Steve Murphy said the BAE Systems deal was a great endorsements of the company’s products but was also an example of two North West companies working together who have the same ethos of supporting local businesses and communities and promoting apprenticeships to help growth.
He said: “We are delighted to be working with BAE Systems in such an important area such as pilot training and we are pleased that they have recognised the quality which UVS products can bring to the work which they do.
“But also it is great for us to be working with a company which has the same ethos as us.
“We operate on a much smaller scale but have admired BAE Systems’ commitment to supporting local businesses and the community.
“We have also replicated their commitment to providing apprenticeships by recently training two apprentices of our own.”
UVS, which also has bases in London and Manchester provides equipment for a wide range of sectors, including CCTV control rooms, local authorities, banks, road traffic monitoring, emergency services, blue chip retailers, security services, prisons and other Government buildings.
Two new UVS demonstration venues allow potential customers to witness at first hand the state-of-the-art products which can help them.
The venues, in Euston, London, and Stockport, Manchester, are operated on an appointment basis and clients can provide details of the issues they face in advance so UVS can demonstrate how their technology can help.
